The Rich Get Richer
When it looked like the White Sox were contempt with what they had, they show up out of no where and grab another arm for an already great pitching staff. GM Kenny Williams pulled off a deal with the Arizona Diamondbacks for pitcher Javier Vazquez. The Sox sent pitchers Orlando "El Duque" Hernandez, Luis Vizcaino, and top outfield prospect Chris Young to the Diamondbacks. There is also a report that says Arizona added $5 million to the deal to offset the $24 million owed to Vazquez in the next two seasons.
The Sox already had an amazing pitching staff last year, but now they have the best pitching staff by far in all of baseball. They now have Buehrle, Garcia, Contreres, Garland, Vazquez, and don't forget about Brandon McCarthy. But the problem that persists now are the contracts of Garland and Contreres. They will both be free agents after the 2006 season and Garland has already rejected an offer from the Sox. With McCarthy waiting, will Garland be dangled as trade bait? There is a rumor out there that has Garland, Uribe and prospects being offered to Baltimore for Miguel Tejada.
But lets forget about all the rumors and just enjoy the fact that the Chicago White Sox have the best pitching staff in all of baseball and are right on track to repeat in the 2006 season. Only 3 months till spring training!
