Contreras Gets On The BoardIt has taken him six starts and finally Jose Contreras has a record. He is now 1-0 after the Sox scored both of their runs in the eighth inning off of two bases loaded walks. Zack Greinke held the Sox to absolutely nothing. A total of only two hits for the entire game but the KC bullpen could not throw strikes. WINNING UGLY is definitely back on the South Side. Jose Contreras was just as good as he went eight innings giving up one run, on four hits, striking out six batters. Shingo picked up his eighth save but he was shaky as he walked two batters to make things very interesting in the ninth.
Staying HotThe Sox just keep on doing whatever it takes to win games. After sweeping the Royals, the Sox have now won five in a row and continue to improve their league best record. They are now 21-7 with a 4 1/2 game lead in the AL Central.
Do You Feel That Nice Breeze?
I sure feel it. That breeze is courtesy of Paul Konerko swinging his bat at nothing. He is hitless in his last 25 at-bats and has only four hits in his last 42 trips to the plate. He is batting a nice .190.
My Head HurtsI have said it before, the Sox need to do something new in the broadcast booth. With Hawk out having eye surgery, DJ has become the play-by-play guy and Donn Pall is in as the commentator. My ears started to bleed during today's game. It is ridiculously boring to listen to these guys do the game. I like Hawk a lot. I have no problem with him at all. But I think DJ is bringing him down. He is not as good as he was with Wimpy. It's a shame how the Sox management ran him out of the booth. So seeing Wimpy in the booth any time soon is just not going to happen. But Hawk is not getting any younger so management better be looking for someone to replace him and it better not be DJ. While you are looking for a new play-by-play guy, look for a replacement for DJ as well. I don't know how much longer I can take listening to him. Robin Ventura is next to join DJ in the booth during the Toronto series.
